Security First Insurance Company Claims Supervisor Opening

Title:                          Claims Supervisor

Reports To:              Director of Claims

 Summary of Position:

The Claims Supervisor is responsible for directly supervising a Claims Examiners assigned to daily claims. Daily claims is comprised of approximately four to five examiners responsible for monitoring, resolving and tracking property claims.  Serves as the primary resource for the team in resolving issues associated with claims handling.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Supervises a team of Claims Examiners to ensure proper claim handling and compliance with Security First Insurance (SFI) claim guidelines
  • Conducts initial reviews of property claims and assigns them to staff
  • Evaluates all claims, provides guidance and settlement authority
  • Effectively manages loss, loss adjustment expenses and loss reserves for claims assigned within the unit
  • Analyzes reports to identify trends and proposes appropriate strategies
  • Identifies complex claims/develops strategies and settlement solutions
  • Builds relationships with external business partners and exercises independent judgement in dealings
  • Performs training to internal staff members as required
  • Participates in training and mentoring of external business partners
  • Conducts claim file reviews for department
  • Performs claims examiner duties as required
  • Attends mediation, settlements and legal proceedings as required
  • Other duties as assigned, with or without accommodation

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited university in associated discipline preferred
  • PC Literate with a firm understanding of Microsoft Office Programs
  • 10 years of Florida property claims adjusting experience
  • Active FL 620 license in good standing or agreement to obtain license within 6 months after hire
  • Previous management or supervisory experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Homeowner Policy Coverages and estimatics

Summary of Position:

As a member of the Property Claims Field Team, Claims Field Adjusters play a pivotal role in providing an exceptional customer service experience by using analytical and negotiation skills to resolve a wide variety of homeowner claims in a detail-oriented, fast paced, team environment.  Each day is a new and exciting challenge, as our Field Adjusters utilize industry leading technology and services to assist our customers throughout their claims process. 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Performs face to face meetings with insureds/claimants; takes recorded statements as required
  • Remains alert for potential fraud and subrogation
  • Writes property loss estimates, settles losses, views loss to determine scope, cause and origin and severity of losses; explains coverage and makes claim determinations
  • Negotiates and settle claims in accordance with Security First policies and procedures
  • Maintains a constructive working relationship with vendors and contractors
  • Retains an extensive knowledge of applicable statutes, building codes, regulations and case law
  • Documents all relevant claim information and prepares reports as required
  • Attends mediation and depositions as required

Minimum Requirements:

  • PC Literate with Microsoft Office Programs; Mastery of Xactimate software
  • Required to operate an automobile and have a valid drivers’ license with a safe driving record; reliable automobile capable of transporting a ladder
  • Must be able to climb ladders at various heights, lift 50 lbs, stoop, bend, and/or crawl to inspect structures; make physical inspections of property loss sites; work outdoors in all types of weather
  • Willing to work irregular hours and to travel, possibly overnight
  • Position may require work from our centralized office

Summary of Position:

The Property Weather Claims Examiner is responsible for the investigation, adjustment and settlement of Homeowner Property claims.  This position is assigned to the CAT team, and is primarily responsible for claims which are identified as weather events. This position may also be assigned to oversee the workflow of Independent Claims Examiners during a CAT event.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Contacts insureds and other parties to obtain information necessary to evaluate property damage claims
  • Uses negotiation skills and knowledge of property insurance to settle claims in accordance with Company policies and procedures
  • Interacts with external business partners and exercises independent judgment regarding claims decisions
  • Coordinates with approved SFI vendors and industry experts regarding claims as necessary
  • Establishes reserve amounts for indemnity and expense as required
  • Manages loss adjustment expense

Senior Property Claims Adjuster                                                                                                                   Jacksonville, FL, US  The Senior Property Claims Adjuster role provides prompt, courteous, and fair claim service on complex high severity and large loss claims. You will be responsible for investigation of property claims to determine coverage, corresponding with customers over the phone, obtaining important claims information, and negotiating damage settlements. You will be documenting claim activity into our claim system and following processes that provide fair settlements or claim resolutions, customer satisfaction and excellent cost management. 
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
• Acknowledge claim assignments; confirm policy coverage, direct adjustment of claims
• Interpret policy, make decisions using independent judgment on moderate-to-difficult claims and determine if coverage applies to claims submitted
• Investigate claims to determine validity and verify extent of damage by telephone contact with insureds 
• Negotiate settlements and authorize payments within scope of authority, settling claims timely, and in the most cost-effective manner

Requirements:
• Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience;
• Minimum Five (5)+ years experience desk adjusting moderate to complex claims with increasing responsibilities in a company environment regarding claims in Florida and/or Texas.
• Litigation and disputed claims experience preferred
• As required by regulatory entities, relevant professional designations and certifications highly desirable. Ability to acquire insurance licenses as required by role. Florida License in good standing is required; and ability to acquire Texas Property & Casualty Insurance Adjuster License within 3 months of hire
• Ensures that all assigned claims are concluded promptly and equitably
• Previous catastrophic claim handling preferred, but not required
• Excellent verbal/written communication skills and organizations skills, including presentation skills
